Based in the Cotswolds, I'm largely a self-taught painter, though I studied my art degree at the University of the West of England (UWE). During which time I specialised in different printing techniques, macro photography and sculpture. I was raised in the countryside so from a young age I was always surrounded by nature and loved helping my parents with gardening so much so that at the age of 6 managed to persuade my parents to let me have my own patch of garden to enable me to grow a lot of wild flowers. My curiosity with preserving plants begun when I was bought a flower press from about 8 years of age which pressed flower pictures evolved from. I then started working with clay 20 years ago and explored with pressing plants into the surface to take the impressions. So it's been a joy to rediscover this in the years since graduation.

I am completely captivated by nature, absorbed by the beauty of plants and flowers that surround us. Whether just for my own enjoyment or for private commission, I love to use my brush and paints to creatively capture a likeness. I like to make marks with my paint, rather than try for a photographic smoothness, but regardless, the end result should be an accurate observation, created with painterly expressive marks. In my creative work, I also love to explore working with other mediums and in particular my beach combing finds from which i recreate memories from the objects that I find.
